ELCAC works with students, grandparents, and others whose interests are in helping children with early-education programs.
Opportunities range from working in early learning centers with children and providers to working at our office assisting with administrative and program functions. We have many opportunities for students, adults, and seniors who want to help.

Responsibilities of Early Learning Coalitions
Coalitions were created to oversee and improve the readiness and successful outcomes of children birth to kindergarten in the community (F.S. 1002). The governor appoints the Chair and two additional private sector members. If you are interested in applying for a governor appointed position, complete the application below. A minimum of 15 and a maximum of 30 may serve on the local Coalition board.

Basic Responsibilities
- Determine mission and purpose
- Select, evaluate, and support the executive director
- Ensure effective organizational planning
- Ensure adequate resources
- Manage resources effectively
- Determine, monitor, and strengthen the Coalition’s programs and services
- Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability
- Recruit and orient new board members and assess board performance
- Provide outreach and advocacy for Coalition’s mission
Personal Characteristics Desired
- Ability to analyze and synthesize information, work well in groups and listen to the thoughts and opinions of others
- Willingness to leverage relationships in personal and professional spheres of influence to further the work of the Coalition
- Willingness to work and problem solve with individuals of diverse backgrounds and ethnicity demonstrating mutual respect
- Respect for and adherence to governing laws of the Coalition

Early Learning Coalition Board Member Expectation Statement
- Attend board meetings, special committee meetings, special events as appropriate
- Be knowledgeable and informed of the Coalition’s mission, vision and overall purpose
- Review the agenda and supporting materials prior to the meetings and contribute positively to the discussion
- Become familiar with the Bylaws and follow them
- Recognize that the only employee of the board is the executive director; the executive director directs the activities of the staff.
- Become knowledgeable about the field of early care and education and the importance of quality experiences birth to five.
- Serve as an ambassador promoting the work of the Coalition.
- Abide by a code of ethics and Government in the Sunshine laws.
- Exercise fiduciary oversight by reviewing financial information and asking relevant questions
Child Development & Inclusion Coordinator.
The Child Development & Inclusion Coordinator will support the inclusion of children of all abilities in quality child care throughout ELCAC service delivery area as part of the Programs Department. Coordinates the completion of Ages & Stages (ASQ) developmental screening for children receiving School Readiness services; to provide follow-up/referral information to parents and providers based on developmental concerns identified by the ASQ and/or other assessments/screenings. Maintains the administration of the Warm Line to advise child care personnel concerning strategies, curriculum and environmental adaptations that allow a child with a disability or special need to derive maximum benefit from child care services. This position requires frequent on-site contact with child care providers.
A minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience with young children.
Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Transformative Professional Development Coach.
The TPD Coach is responsible for ensuring transformative professional development experiences are available for School Readiness Providers to support implementation of evidence-informed practices in classrooms. This position provides direct mentoring and coaching to early care and education professional(s) and other coaches utilizing adult learning practices. The primary role for this position is to support the implementation of the Anita Zucker Center model for practice-based coaching within the Alachua County School Readiness Providers among the program director and classroom teachers.
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Direct previous experience implementing practice-based coaching is preferred.
